The Perfect Carrier Oils

mini body scrubs

a note about oils.. you can use any combination of the following oils, as long as the quantity equals 1/4 cup. I like to use a combination of both fractionated coconut oil and hempseed oil. After reading through this next section it should give you a good idea of what oils will likely suit you.

Sweet Almond Oil rich in Vitamin E it is the perfect option for dry irritated skin. Above all it acts as a barrier against the elements, keeping your skin feeling fresh and supple.

Fractionated Coconut Oil is the perfect option to deeply nourish dry, rough skin. Coconut oil is a greasy oil and well known for it’s moisturizing properties making it the perfect option for dry tired skin.

Grapeseed Oil is a nice light alternative to the likes of coconut and olive oil. Grapeseed oil is quickly absorbed and full of antioxidants. Certainly making it a great choice for rashes and other skin conditions. Furthermore it could also help to decrease clogged pores and reduce acne, making it a good option for face scrubs.

Hempseed Oil is the perfect option for many skin types. It will deeply moisturize your skin without clogging pores and can help to balance out oily skin. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and can help to encourage skin growth, making it the perfect option for both body and face scrubs.

Olive Oil is very moisturizing , but it is also a greasier oil that may clog pores. As a result it is a great oil to use to boost moisture levels of dry dull skin, although not suitable for the face. Furthermore it could also help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks with regular use.

Keyword: body scrub, natural body scrub
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 1 jar
Author: Sarah

Equipment

  • 1 Glass Jar

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Raw Sugar
  • ¼ cup Epsom Salts
  • ¼ cup Oil (I use a combination of hempseed & Fractionated coconut oil) You could also use grapeseed, jojoba, olive oil or sweet almond oil
  • 10 drops Calm & Destress Essential Oil Blend or your own combination of essential oils

Instructions

  • Measure out sugar and Epsom salt and add in oils
  • Choose your blend or combination of essential oils then add up to 10 drops to the mixture
  • Mix well to combine

Notes

When adding the oil you can increase or decrease the quantity a little to get the consistency you are happiest with. I find the 1/4 cup perfect for me but you my like it a little wetter. Try experimenting by adding it by the table spoon and take note of how much you prefer.
This recipe would be considered shelf stable for a month or so, if you are wanting to keep it for longer you should consider refrigerating it.
I would recommend you exfoliate once or twice a week
Due to the oils used in this recipe the shower/ bath is likely to become quite slippery so please do be careful.
